VCE French language enrolments have improved in the decade 2005 to 2015 with 1,929 students sitting VCE French exams in 2015 compared with 1,561 students in 2005.

However, Victorian Curriculum Assessment Authority statistics show that Year 11 French enrolments have flat lined over the decade. The increase in Year 12 enrolments is due entirely to much improved retention rates going into Year 12 from Year 11.

The Year 11 student drop out rate into Year 12 reduced from approximately 19% net in 2006 compared with around 15% in 2015.
