Our company is proactive in nature and ensures the protection of human rights, the conservation and preservation of the environment and is enthusiastic in supporting the community through local and state initiatives. In addition, ABBEY Language Travel is a family-friendly business where all team members have the freedom and flexibility to raise a family alongside their company responsibilities.
ABBEY Language Travel is aware and proactive in terms of maintaining low carbon emissions. Head office has invested in solar panels and has an electric car for transportation. Recycling is a must within the office and low plastic consumption is encouraged. Water usage is kept to a minimum and eco-friendly alternatives have replaced toxic chemicals. Public transport is the preferred mode of transport whilst on a tour which significantly decreases our carbon footprint as well as allows students and staff a unique and involved experience with the respective country. In addition, ABBEY Language Travel is an online booking service which reduces wastage of material objects; for example, all student flight and attraction tickets are online E-tickets.
Donations and aid
ABBEY Language Travel recognises the importance of donations and aid to local communities and state-wide initiatives. ABBEY Language Travel has chosen the Cancer Council as its focus charity and is committed to hosting an annual morning tea which raises funds for cancer patients and research. This year we raised $1,700 in donations for the Cancer Council of which ABBEY Language Travel pledged all donations dollar for dollar.
Student health and wellbeing
ABBEY Language Travel has made a specific effort to maximise student health and wellbeing whilst on tour through regulating pre-ordered meals. For example; as packed meals are common, water is always substituted for soft drinks or sodas, and sugary snacks are substituted with healthy snacks with low sugar content. In addition, all dietary requirements are taken into account and well catered for including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free students.
ABBEY Language Travel is flexible with staff members raising families, as well as recognises the need for holiday and leisure time. This is demonstrated through flexible working hours, regular leave, and maternity and paternity leave. We believe that this flexible and positive work attitude has created dedicated and long-term team members who are committed to our fantastic business.
ABBEY Language Travel encourages volunteering and service internally and externally and supports staff members who are currently undertaking these activities. ABBEY Language Travel sponsors events run by volunteer organisations.
Encouraging cultural diversity
ABBEY Language Travel is proactive in respecting and encouraging cultural diversity by supporting local people in the country of travel. Students are encouraged to live-in with provincial families to obtain a deeper and rich understanding of the country, the culture and of the people, they are visiting. Students are encouraged to eat local delicacies, street food and dishes typical to the region which supports local businesses and helps students to understand the culture. In addition, cooking classes are often included which encourage students to take what they have learnt back to their respective countries.
